Lion Air, Indonesia’s largest private airline, has taken delivery of its first Next-Generation 737-900ER with the new Boeing Sky Interior. The new design features a number of interior enhancements, such as sculpted sidewalls, new window designs, and LED mood lighting which can be programmed to provide soft blue sky overhead or to create different effects during the flight. Large stowage bins pivot down and out to offer more overhead space and increase storage capacity.

Lion Air was the launch customer for the Boeing Next-Generation 737-900ER in 2005. Last week’s delivery is the airline’s 43rd 737-900ER. In all, the airline has ordered 178 Next-Generation 737s. Lion Air operates an all-Boeing fleet. The airline recently announced plans to expand the fuel tanks of its B737-900ERs to enable them to make longer flights to destinations including Australia and Japan.
