Perth Airport unveils development plans


Perth Airport will begin the first stage of its three-year redevelopment and expansion of its current international terminal, and creation of its first new terminal in over 20-years.

The development of the new, single-storey Terminal WA will house most regional and low-cost carriers. It will cost AUD515-million and is set to open in 2013. It will be located on the airport’s eastern side, right next to the current International Terminal. According to a report in eGlobal Travel Media, the AUD120-million Terminal WA first stage will be followed by the AUD270-million redevelopment and expansion of the international terminal.

Perth Airport has passenger numbers up by 9.4% to almost 11.5-million, and aircraft movements growing at 8.9% a year.
