Royal wedding boosts UK tourism

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s nuptials increase tourism into the UK.

According to a report in eTravel Blackboard Australia, British Airways reported that bookings grew by an extra 250,000 people in the week leading up to the wedding while Expedia reported a 30% increase in hotel bookings between April 25 and 29 compared to same time last year. Pegasus Solutions, a hotels and booking technology provider, has estimated that hotel revenue per booking will go up to 400% during the wedding weekend and 200% for the weekend after the wedding.

VisitBritain is confident that the wedding, combined with other major events, will create GBPtwo-billion over the next four years and attract up to four million visitors to the country.
