World’s longest sea bridge to open in China

China’s Qingdao Bay Bridge, the world’s longest sea bridge, is set to open in June 2011.

The Qingdao Bay Bridge is located in eastern China’s Shandong province and runs 41.6-kilometres long. It links two districts of the port of Qingdao, shortening travel time between the two locations by 20-minutes. According to a report in Travel Daily Asia, the bridge’s structure is complete, while the roadway section is due for completion in 10-days’ time. The bridge construction has an estimated cost of US$1.4-billion.
