Accor’s ‘Le Kids Warriors to the Wall 2011’, a charity cycling campaign launched in partnership with the Chi Heng Foundation, has raised US$130,000 for Chinese children affected by AIDS.

The charity ride was held on May 6-10, 2011, and started from Xi’an, Shaanxi province, and finished at Beijing’s Tian’nmen Square. The ride covered 500-kilometres over the course of five days. Sixteen general managers from Accor hotels in the Asia Pacific region participated in the event and committed to raise a minimum of US$5,000 through their own networks. Chung To, founder, Chi Heng Foundation, was quoted in Travel Daily Asia, as having said that Accor was a visionary partner of Chi Heng, pioneering in the development of innovative CSR and community based programmes which included the ‘Le Kids’ event. To added that the event demonstrated Accor’s concern for underprivileged elements in the community, and improving the lives of those who need it most.

Other companies which include Alcatel-Lucent, Air Aroma, Cathay Pacific, Coca-Cola, Johnson Diversey, BOC Shanghai, Swire Travel, Ecolab, China Unicom, Dragonair, and Air China have also contributed to the charity cycling campaign.
