United to introduce daily non-stop service between Hong Kong and Tokyo

United Continental Holdings, Inc announced their plans to launch a daily non-stop service between Hong Kong and Tokyo, Japan, effective October 31, 2011. This new service is still subject to government approval.

The new service, to be operated by Continental Airlines, will be the first expansion of the new United’s operations in Hong Kong since the merger in 2010, signifying the airline’s commitment to improving connections for customers. With the new non-stop service connecting two of Asia’s most exciting cities, passengers from Hong Kong will also benefit from direct access to many more destinations from United’s hub at Tokyo’s Narita Airport, including Honolulu, Guam, Los Angeles, Seattle and Houston. The service is also the first direct service (with a change of gauge at Narita) from Hong Kong to New York/Newark to be offered by Continental in addition to the carrier’s daily nonstop Hong Kong-Newark Liberty flight. With the addition of the Hong Kong-Tokyo route, United serves more destinations from Hong Kong than any other U.S. carrier, with service to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Guam, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo.

The daily non-stop service between Hong Kong and Tokyo/Narita will be operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, offering 14 Business Class and 141 Economy Class seats.
