SriLankan Airlines to expand its fleet

SriLankan Airlines revealed plans of adding six additional aircraft to its fleet this year as part of its expansion programme to meet the growing number of passengers and routes.

The airline received the first of three A320 aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2011 yesterday. The second and third deliveries are scheduled to arrive in the last quarter of the year. An Airbus A340 widebody aircraft is also scheduled for delivery in late May. According to a report in TTG Asia, SriLankan Airlines’ last brand new aircraft arrived back in 2000 while aircraft arrivals over the years have been on lease.
