Malaysia Appeal to Singaporean Tourists

Malaysia has revealed plans of attracting Singaporeans by offering more ecotourism products and promoting its annual sale campaigns.

Singapore is Malaysia’s largest source market. In 2010, a total of 13-million tourists from Singapore visited the country, which in turn generated MYR28.4-billion in tourism receipts. Tourism Malaysia plans to capitalise on this market by focusing more on nature-based offerings such as parks and gardens, and homestays. Tourism Malaysia acting Director General Azizan Noordin was quoted in TTG Asia that they have designated about 22 parks and gardens throughout the country and that they plan to initially promote 12 of the said parks and gardens.

The NTO will also promote 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival, previously known as Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival, to draw bargain hunters, as well as promote other tourism events such as the three-month 1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism Festival from July, a Fabulous Food 1Malaysia event from October to November, and a year-end Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia Dance Tourism Carnival.
