Philippines to Build More Airports

The Philippines revealed plans of building new airports and developing new tourist destinations to improve tourism into the country.


In a recent press briefing, Philippine Tourism Secretary Mr Alberto Lim said that key infrastructure projects such as building international airports and developing new destinations will improve the country’s tourism image. According to a report in eTravel Blackboard Australia, the Philippine government will hold the bidding for public private partnership (PPP) projects to establish international airports in Panglao in Bohol, Daraga in Albay, Puerto Princesa in Palawan and Cagayan de Oro City.


The country’s new National Tourism Development plan includes the goal to double the number of international tourist arrivals into the country to 6.3-million and boost domestic tourism to reach 32-million by 2016.

HKTB Teams Up with Visa

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) partnered up with Visa to offer shoppers the chance to win pre-paid credit and cash vouchers through its Hong Kong Summer Spectacular programme, running from June 17 to August 31.


HKTB and Visa has forged their partnership in 2010 and has continued it to collaborate in promotions that would attract travellers from around the region and increase sales for different business sectors. HKTB Executive Director Mr Anthony Lau was quoted in Travel Daily Asia as having said that they are delighted to continue their partnership with Visa. Lau added that they are rolling out a series of attractive promotions with Visa to stimulate visitors’ spending during the summer. Such promotions include Spend to Win, Pay by Visa, Visa go Surprises, and the Visa go Hong Kong Shopper.
