Centara Reaches Out to Underprivileged Youth

Centara Hotels & Resorts has introduced a training programme for underprivileged youth to gain career opportunities within the group.

The training programme called ‘4 C’s: Centara Career Creation for Children’ is a five-month course wherein students undergo classroom and practical training in the areas of kitchen, food and beverage, and housekeeping. During training, students are given daily allowance, uniform, three meals, and accommodation. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate and an opportunity to become full-time employees at Centara properties. Centara Hotels & Resorts President Gerd Steeb was quoted in eTurbo News as having said that this project is intended for children who graduate from the public welfare schools at grade 12 but do not have sufficient financial support to continue their education at university level. Steeb added that this project will give young people an opportunity to develop themselves in terms of knowledge and skills in a hospitality career and simultaneously earn a living.

Centara Hotels & Resorts has partnered up with the Department of Skill Development at Thailand Ministry of Labor for this project.  There are 117 students that have recently begun the first training programme.
