King to be Part of VET

Australian Tourism Export Council Chair, John King OAM has been selected to be part of the four members of NSW Visitor Economy Taskforce (VET). VET is a taskforce responsible for overseeing the development of Government plans to double tourism in New South Wales by 2020.

The VET will be chaired by Russell Bading AO. King will be joining Bading, as well as Honorable Bruce Baird AM, and the yet to be appointed CEO of Destination NSW. The team will spend the next 12 months working to boost tourism into NSW. Australian Tourism Export Council Chair, John King OAM was quoted in eTravel Blackboard Australia as having said that this taskforce has a wide remit and that he can’t underestimate the challenge they have in establishing a framework to take NSW tourism into the next decade. King added that he is honoured to have been asked to join the VET in building a strategy for this new government body.

King has also pointed out that one of the key issues VET would focus on is the tourism infrastructure and investment needed across the state. He stated that VET would work hard to establish a combined effort of government and the private sector to achieve the best result in improving tourism in NSW.
