Boeing and Rolls-Royce Collaborate on New Data Service

Boeing and Rolls-Royce have collaborated on a shared data service that will enable both companies to provide faster, better-informed advice to airlines to maximise aircraft availability.

Through the shared data service, data from an aircraft and the engines that power it will be combined on a single system providing customers with an efficient, integrated data source. This will help airlines improve their ability to manage their product health monitoring. Rolls-Royce Services Director – Civil Aerospace Tom Palmer was quoted in AsiaTravelTips.com as having said that this innovative service is focused on providing airlines with better information, which will help improve the speed and quality of decision-making and enable operators to maximise operational efficiency.

The new service will be initially available for the Trent 1000/Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Trent 800/Boeing 777 combinations. By the end of 2011, it is expected to also cover RB211-524/Boeing 747 and RB211-535/Boeing 757 combinations.
