Preferred Hotel Group Offers Kizuna 10-Day Sale

The Preferred Hotel Group (PHG) launched the ‘Kizuna’ initiative, a new promotion that features 10 hotels in Tokyo, Yokohama, Sapporo and Hiroshima offering rooms for just JPY10,000 or US$124. This 10-day sale will run until July 15.

‘Kizuna’ means ‘bonding’ and is deemed the appropriate name for a promo such as this. This is part of PHG’s effort to help revive the Japanese hotel sector after the devastating March 11 earthquake and tsunami. PHG Managing Director for Asia Mar Simmons was quoted in Travel Daily Asia as having said that they are seeing an increase of international visitors in the past month, primarily in the corporate sector at their hotels in Japan. Simmons added that their member hotels are actively collaborating to entice visitors back to show them that it is ‘business as usual’ and Preferred is committed to put in maximum efforts globally in promoting the country.

Last month, PHG has teamed up with Vacationist.com to offer a benefit sale called ‘Check-in For Japan’, where PHG global members collectively donated 800 hotel rooms and sold them off at reduced rates. All proceeds from the benefit sale went to the Red Cross relief effort.
