Tourism Victoria Appoints New CEO

Leigh Harry has been selected as the new CEO of Tourism Victoria and Deputy Secretary of Tourism and Aviation, Department of Business and Innovation. The announcement was made by Minister for Tourism and Major Events. Louise Asher MP on July 27. Prior to the appointment, Harry was serving as Chief Executive of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).


Asher is confident in Harry’s experience in driving the international success of the MCEC and deems it valuable in taking Tourism Victoria to the next stage. Asher was quoted as having said that tourism is a crucial Victorian industry and Mr Harry’s experience will be invaluable in the years ahead.


Leigh Harry is commended not only for his work at the MCEC but also for his work as International President of both the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) and as President of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) from 2006 to 2010.
